Find and replace across Shopify products

A brand renames itself, a delivery promise changes, a size format turns out to be inconsistent. The fix is always the same shape: find this text, put that text in its place, everywhere it appears.

The app applies find and replace to whichever field you point it at, with case sensitivity as an option and a preview before anything is written.

Fields you can search and replace in

• Product title — brand names, size formats, marketing phrases.
• Description — as text or as HTML, for structural blocks.
• SEO title and description — the metadata versions of the same problem.
• URL handle — with redirects planned separately.
• SKU and barcode — supplier prefixes.
• Related operations: add text to the beginning or end, and remove text entirely.

Narrowing the search first

• Filter on the same field — for example title contains the phrase — so the task only touches real matches.
• Add a vendor or collection filter when the phrase appears in more than one context.
• Use the preview to read a sample of matches before running.
• Case sensitivity is a setting; leave it on when the phrase is a brand name.

A worked example: replace an old delivery promise everywhere

1. Filter: description contains “ships in 24 hours”.
2. Editor: description → find “ships in 24 hours”, replace with “ships within two business days”.
3. Preview the matched products and read three descriptions in full.
4. Run it, then repeat for the SEO description with wording suited to that field.

Partial matches are the trap

Replacing “Co” with “Company” across titles also changes “Cotton” into “Companytton”. Always run the filter first and read the preview: the products it matches are the products it will change.

Because the previous value is stored, a bad replacement is a revert rather than a disaster — but a preview is faster than either.
